1000’s are being pressured to return to Afghanistan as Tehran tightens controls on immigration.

For many years, tens of thousands of Afghans – who’ve fled warfare and poverty and sought a greater future – have crossed into neighbouring Iran.

Tehran has largely been lenient in direction of members of this group. However lately, Iranians appear to have grown bored with internet hosting them – and sentiment in direction of overseas nationals has hardened.

The Iranian authorities has responded by expelling undocumented individuals. These being pressured out haven’t any selection however to return to the nation they escaped from.

Whereas the Taliban authorities is welcoming returning Afghans, what sort of life awaits them, and what can the worldwide group do to assist?

    Presenter:

    James Bays

    Visitors:

Arafat Jamal – Afghanistan consultant of the United Nations Excessive Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

Orzala Nemat – Activist for the rights of Afghan ladies and director of the Improvement Analysis Group,  a UK-based consultancy
